Just upgraded to "new" firefox and spent a lot of time organizing & naming new tab groups. Logged off and shut down computer yesterday. Today when I opened firefox and tried to access my tab groups via the tab group button, the window was empty......all my tab groups were gone? Nothing in the tab group tutorial indicates that I was supposed to save the tab groups once they were set-up. Why di they disappear?

App tabs and Tab Groups (Panorama) are stored as part of the session data in the file sessionstore.js in the Firefox Profile Folder

Make sure that you do not use Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox to clear the "Browsing History" when Firefox is closed because that prevails and prevents Firefox from opening tabs from the previous session.

Thanks for the reply, sadly your suggestion has not solved my problem. My settings are set to "Remember History". I guess I'll just go back to utilizing the bookmark toolbar.

There does not seem to be a file sessionstore.js on my pc. I lost my groups when I upgraded last time.

thank you for any help with this - I had a number of groups!

Does it help if you select "Show my windows and tabs from last time" ?

  • Edit > Preferences > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

Yes, I have had "Show my windows and tabs from last time" set for some time.

Normally when I close FireFox when I restart my tabs and groups are all there.

But sometimes during an upgrade, or when an upgrade window is underneath the window with tabs on it after I closed it then when I restart my tabs are gone.

this seems to have happened to all my groups too.

I have noticed that since FF upgraded itself to 13, the tab groups feature is behaving oddly. I just rebooted my computer to see if that helped and now my tab groups have shrunk to tiny squares that refuse to expand.

After spending so much time creating the tab groups and finding the feature so erratic I do not use it any more. I was unable to revoer all my lost groups.

I also find it frustrating when I have opened a number of tabs to work on multiple related issues such as when doing research and lose them when I shut down. I do have "Show my windows and tabs from last time" se, but occasionally a window hidden under the others (such as an ad) is still active when I close out - and I lose the tabs.

Since FireFox does not save them as a "tabs from recently closed window" group on the History or Favorites lists my only option is to go through pages and pages and more pages of closed links to try to figure out what I had open. Very frustrating - and easily solved if our FireFox friends would just add this feature to the list of improvements.
