I have multiple email accounts set up within TB. All of these are set to "start my reply above the quote", and for the signature to be placed "below my reply (above the quote)", at the top of the thread. One of my accounts works as it should, the rest ignore those settings and throws the signature to the bottom of the thread every time. What's really odd is that I see the signature appear briefly in the correct place, then it jumps to the bottom of the thread. I'm using the Signature Switch add-on, but this behavior was present before installing the add-on, and I've disabled it since with no improvement, so I know it's not Sig Switch that's causing it. Any ideas? This is driving me batty, and wasting valuable time, having to copy/paste my sig every time I send an email.

Restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled (it is on the help menu) any better?

Yes and no. Running with no add-ons makes it work as expected...sometimes, and for some accounts. However, certain accounts, and sometimes even certain individual messages still exhibit the odd behavior of throwing the sig to the bottom of the thread.

Can you offer a bit more info on the default signature applied to each mail account in Account Settings.

  • Does every account have a default signature applied?
  • Is the signature entered in the 'Signature Text' box for some or all accounts?
  • Do you use a selected html file for some or all signatures ?

I'm trying to understand if there is a difference in each mail account for the default signature.

Note For Replies: If you choose to not use the default one set in Account Setings, but use Signature Switch in Write message, the addon will remove the default one in correct position and put the selected 'Signature switch' signature at the bottom below all text. This is expected even if not desired.
