When typing a message in Thunderbird the mouse pointer will disappear and can only be brought back with a computer restart. Pressing the Control Key I can see where it last was, but it won't reappear or move. It doesn't happen to all emails I send but regularly enough (several times a day) to be a pain.

The mouse pointer works normally in all other programs.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

flatish battery in the mouse?

more options

Sorry, it's not a mouse pointer, I'm using the touchpad. So it's not a battery issue.

more options

I still have the issue, the pointer disappears while typing an email and that is the only application that causes that to happen. Once the pointer is gone it will not appear in any other program until after a computer restart.

I'm using Windows 10 on a PC, Thunderbird and W10 both automatically update.

Any ideas?

Is this the regular pointer or the "I-beam" text insertion point marker?

more options

It's the pointer that goes, I can move the text insertion point with tabs/arrows, but the pointer is gone until a computer restart brings it back.

Can I suggest you try Thunderbird in its Safe Mode? Just to see if the performance improves?

If so, maybe the hardware acceleration is the cause and should be switched off.
