Clear the cache and the cookies from websites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
- Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
- Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
I still cannot load merril lynch with the password Also in privacy the next choice-"cookies Show cookies is not available. I got the cookie list and tried to eliminate some cookies but no all of them

Add to question above. Will it help if I uninstall firefox and then reinstall?
To see all History and Cookie settings, choose:
- Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
Does it work in a Private Browsing mode window?
I don't know what is a private browsing window?
You can read that in the above linked article?
In Private Browsing mode you get a new set of cookies only for this Private Browsing window and the disk cache isn't used (no data from a Private Browsing mode windows is stored to disk, but rather kept in memory).
If clearing cookies doesn't work then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookie files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox profile folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.
You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
