When I launch firefox, the browser does in fact appear yet the entire top tool bar, the firefox drop down menu located at the top left of the screen, all tabs, all pop up are there and visible yet they are completely blank. I cannot click the cursor into this options yet when I click on what I know is the OK or CANCEL button on the pop ups and or if I open the drop down menu options it does in fact do what its being asked yet again there is nothing to read, nothing appears, no literature at all to be viewed. I thought maybe it was a n regarding Locked or Damaged places.sqlite. So I followed the following steps : 1. Close Firefox completely 2. Open the Firefox profile folder 3. Delete or rename all files named "places.sqlite", including "places.sqlite-journal" and any "places.sqlite.corrupt" files, if found . I did find theses and in turn I deleted them. Rebooted, re-launched firefox and the same issue is still there. I un-installed firefox from the laptop, re-installed and still the problem persists. ? Any ideas ????

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Hi there,

Thank you for the quick reply. Unfortunately it did not work. I followed the steps that you provided. Once it was completed, firefow re-launched itself and again the browser is physically visible yet all "writtings/letter/words" in the tool bar, menus, tabs and even in the pop up window asking if I want firefox to be my default browser are completely blank... any other suggestions..... I know what I am about to say is not desired when asking question about firefox on a firefox forum but IE is working fine... :o( sorry to say.
