If you are using the new-in-Firefox-19 PDF viewer, instead of the Adobe Acrobat plugin, then this could be a limitation of the viewer. Is there a link to a file online that demonstrates the problem?

Thanks for the reply, Having users install/uninstall plugins in not an option. This needs to work seamlessly. I need to determine if there is something that can be done to the file to make it work.

I Googled this sample PDF. Any PDF with active links will work when opened in Safari, Internet Explorer or Chrome but the links/or embedded media is disabled in Firefox: http://www.novapdf.com/uploads/novapdf_en/media_items/active-pdf-links.original.pdf

Hi dannywg, the novapdf.com example doesn't work for me because it always generates the Open/Save/Cancel dialog.

I don't know about embedded media; I didn't realize PDFs had that feature. But the links in the following PDF work both in the Firefox 19 PDF Viewer and the Adobe Acrobat plugin: http://www.jeffersonscher.com/gm/Google-Hit-Hider-by-Domain_About_v150.pdf

Edit: Actually, I see a difference between the PDF Viewer and the Adobe Acrobat plugin. Adobe's plugin lets you click certain URLs that were not intentionally coded as links in the document (e.g., the URL in the footer). Firefox's PDF Viewer apparently does not have that feature (yet).

Edit: I don't know whether this feature will be added. Firefox doesn't treat text URLs in web pages as links. Add-ons such as Linkification have been created to do that. No idea whether it works in the PDF Viewer.
