when I start to type anything into the search bar, or in a field on any web page I am on, the letters I am typing as well as auto fill suggestions blink on, & off repeatedly.

Maybe you have the "Search for text when I start typing" option selected in the Options window - Advanced Panel General tab? If so, uncheck it. Does that help?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
- Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.
