Firefox 6.0 does not work. You keep advising an urgent update is required but the update nevers connects, will not hide and completely does not work?
Firefox 6.0 always disappears after closing. I have to search for it and it opens as though it has never been installed or used before. An urgent stability update keeps being issued but that doesn't work either. No matter how long I leave it running, it never connects to the update centre. The hide button doesn't work which I think affirms and demonstrates it is also faulty.

If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
- Firefox 6.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
- Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
- Install the new version that you have downloaded
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data.
Thanks for that but I'm afraid I've tried that a couple of times and it doesn't work.
I've also tried up-loading a screen dump of the up-date that doesn't work either but this page can't upload that either.
I will try adding it again. Nope, won't work
What else can I try?
Did you download the full Firefox 6.0.1 (or 6.0.2 if that got released) version from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html ?
Yes, that is exactly what I have done. I've now done 6.0.2 and it's still the same.
If you run the latest Firefox version then Firefox should need to update anymore.
Is Firefox still trying to update or are there other problems?
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile:
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)
