I have been using Firefox with Tree Style Tabs for about a half year now, and for the most part, I really like the experience. In fact, Firefox's integration with the Tree Style Tabs addon is the strongest reason I have to ever use Firefox.

Lately, I have begun to see odd quirks with the addon when it is reloaded or restarts after an addon crash such as the tree being randomly disordered and reorganized or being left out of the tree altogether. On top of that, creating new tabs no longer abides by the setting I set in the addon options page. (The addon configuration page @ about:addons has all the right settings checked to behave as I want it to) I am not an expert on how the extension-Firefox interaction works, but it appears to me like Firefox's default tab behavior logic is fighting that of the Tree Style Tabs addon.

Ideally I would love a native tree style tabs implementation from Firefox, but as I have understood from reading about Firefox's history, that feature was dropped early on. If there is even a remote possibility that this feature would be welcomed back into the codebase, I would gladly help write it. Failing that, at the very least, an API for giving tabs properties like a parent and children that is recognized and abided by Firefox itself would be great.

I have never developed for Firefox before, but if it is welcome, I would love to help make this work better.

HI, you may want to contact the Developer of that as they do have a support page in URL below :

There maybe another you can check out :

As for adding feature or new add-ons please feel free to make your voice count where it will be looked at and reviewed by a panel : Feedback:

As for writing the code; you can develop a app if it passes Mozilla Review

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Thanks for your quick reply, @Pkshadow! I will take a look at this extension that you linked to.

By the time I posted my question, I had already found the Firefox qsurvey and filled it out similarly to the question above. Is this really all that can be done to suggest a feature for Firefox?

As for developing another addon for Firefox, I believe I already stated that from what I can tell it is most likely that the Firefox new tab behaviors are screwing with the behavior of the extension. If this is true, then I don't believe it makes any sense to write another extension that will have the same fundamental flaw.

Hi, welcome. There is a gigantic repository now for Extensions for 57+ now and they seem to work fine with tabs, ie : Tab Managers/Session Managers, New Tab Override : and they are all to do with tabs. So it could just be a glitch in your install with something corrupted or with the add-on. Is why suggested contact the Developer so they can fix the issue if there is one or improve on it. If do not report it then nothing gets done. Suggest you post in here : https://discourse.mozilla.org/c/add-ons as it is specific to add-ons/Extensions and search for Tab Trees there and make a comment or make a suggestion regarding this and need for more options to choose from.
