Recent problem after years trouble-free ... some messages not marked by Thunderbird as junk are going into my junk folder. Even some messages from people in my contacts folder are going there (Thunderbird is configured not to identify known contacts as junk). The junk 'flame' symbol is not highlighted so Thunderbird doesn't think these messages are junk but they have still been sent automatically to the junk folder. How can I stop this? Thanks.

It is possible that Thunderbird isn't doing this, especially not when yo usay that this only recently started and you didn't make changes to your Thunderbird configuration.

Maybe your ISP is identifying the messages as SPAM and moving them to your Junk folder? You can probably check this by temporarily using another folder for Junk mail in Thunderbird and see where the messages are going.

If it is done by your ISP, maybe you can configure it to not do so, but you'll have to login on their website in order to change settings like that.

Thanks. I've set up a temp alternative junk folder in Thunderbird and will monitor it and the original junk folder for a few days.

This revealed it was the ISP putting messages to junk, so I've disabled the ISP junk filter and now have only the Thunderbird one operating. Seems to have fixed it. Thanks.
