How do I delete duplicate SENT files?
I have two sent folders under my email address. One is a stand alone folder the other is a sub folder under gmail. This has caused confusion as sent messages go to both folders and have to be moved or deleted separately.
Is there a purpose for having two SENT folders?
Can I delete one? If so How?
Thanks GeoSing

Read it again. She says REMOVE the check, as in uncheck.

I'm presuming you are using an imap gmail account. I'm presuming you have subscribed to see the 'gmail Sent folder.
check your account settings is correct for gmail. right click on mail account and select 'Settings' click on 'Copies & folders' for the gmail imap mail account Do not select - uncheck - 'place a copy in' click on 'OK'. Gmail advise this:
Report back on your settings and results.
Hi Toad-Hall - thanks for the response. Your assumptions that I have IMAP gmail account are correct. It's not clear if you were directing me to where I can make the necessary change to my Thunderbird. If that was your purpose thanks because it looks like the correct place BUT you suggest not to uncheck - 'place a copy in' so it's unclear how I can get rid of the second SENT box.
Please advise - thanks GeoSing

To clarify: 'place a copy in' should not be selected.
Hi Toad-Hall & Airmail,
Thanks for the clarification - got it now. Much appreciated both of you!

Hi Toad-Hall & Airmail,
I have another problem having just migrated Thunderbird from PC to my first Mac. I have two sub, sub, sub, sub folders under LOCAL FOLDERS that are both showing empty when I click on them. However these folders had data when they were migrated and that data still exists on my old PC.
Complication: I tried to save data to one of these sub folders and got the following message from the system: "The folder Building Standards Dept. is full, and can't hold any more messages. To make room for more messages, delete any old or unwanted mail and compact the folder." i.e. This seems like "catch 22" I'm told that I need to delete files to make room for new files but I'm unable to get access to delete anything. NOTE: The data inside these sub folders is quite limited.
Please advise GeoSing
Try reindexing: right click on folder and select 'Properties' click on 'Repair folder' click on OK
Select another folder and then reselect the folder you repaired.
Did this get emails to show in folder?
Dear Toadhall,
Reindexing has done the trick - all is well.
Many thanks GeoSing
