Hello. I don't have add-ons but I do have 12 plug-ins. I'm confused by the script warnings since they appear to be related to AOL mail and maybe Google Chrome? I do not have Google Chrome loaded on the computer.

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Thank you for the information. I will give the reset function a try. The scripts don't always show up so it may take a while before I know if the fix worked.

Well, it appears the issue is still unresolved. I received the following unresponsive script warning:

And after I selected the "Continue" button and cleared this script, a second unresponsive script warning was displayed:

http://o.aolcdn.com/cdn.webmail.aol.com/37001/js/dojo-custom/dojo/dojo2.xd.js:14

At the same time these unresponsive script warnings were displayed, Firefox was hung up and not responding and the operating system was running extremely slow.

After I selected the "Continue" button for the second unresponsive script warning, Firefox began to operate normally but still ran a bit slow.

Hello. I will give those procedures a try. It may take a while to determine if these steps have resolved the issue as the unresponsive script warnings do not consistently show up and I have not been able to determine a pattern or what is triggering them when they do show up.

Well, Firefox appears to operate without problems in the Safe Mode. However, in the Normal Mode with the the hardware acceleration turned off, I did receive the following unresponsive script warnings:

And Firefox hung up to the point that I had to restart the computer.

Does that tell me anything?

Follow up. Well, apparently even in Safe Mode unresponsive scripts are occurring. I received the following unresponsive script warning:

chrome://global/content/bindings/tabbox.xml:73

And again Firefox hung up to the point that I had to restart the computer.

Do these scripts indicate which program or plugin is causing the problem as I see they reference Chrome (which is not loaded on the computer), Google and AOL?

Firefox uses the chrome protocol to access internal files.

You can open such a file for inspection via the location bar.

do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before reinstalling a fresh copy of Firefox.

Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.

• Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will also lose your personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.

Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

• It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.

If you keep having problems then also create a new profile.

If I run the Uninstall function on the Control Panel's Add or Remove Programs page doesn't that remove all files, folders and registry values?

Yes, but if you do not tick the box to remove personal data then your Firefox Profile Folder with your personal data won't be removed.
Only the Firefox program and some registry keys will be removed.
You can omit the uninstall and remove the Firefox program folder manually.
That is to make sure that all files will be correct in case you have security software that has prevented an update to finish properly.

I have a fresh instal of Firefox 15.0.1. Waiting to see if any of the unresponsive scripts occur.

Well, it looks like the problem remains. I received the following unresponsive script warning while Firefox was hung up:

It's interesting that this script seems to be related to AOL webmail but that's not the page I was viewing when Firefox hung up. The unresponsive sscript warning appeared after I selected the AOL page opened in another tab while trying to get Firefox to unhang.

Does it still work properly in Safe mode?

If it does work in Firefox Safe-mode then disable all extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.

Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
