I have checked Mcafee firewall, but can't locate where to change settings. I have also tried setting firefox with no proxy, but it doesn't stick, it goes back to a proxy setting. This just started happening a few days ago.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
