Bookmarks menu became huge, I want it back to normal size.
A week or so ago my bookmarks pull-down menu expanded to cover much of the screen. Can I get back the normal sized bookmarks menu? In addition, when navigating to folders on the screen, the highlight bar is very sensitive and stops if we even move a muscle, and we have to start again from the top. Some of the bookmarked sites located in folders are far to the right, and navigation is also difficult, going way across the big page to get to them. Thank you.

That is probably because you have one or more bookmarks with a long title.
The width of a column in the Bookmarks menu list is in current Firefox versions automatically adjusted to fit the bookmark with the longest name.
You can check the names of the bookmarks and make the longer ones shorter.
practically same question asked by someone else for bookmark menu width
sounds like you also have a problem scrolling bookmarks, or holding them still

You can't use code in userChrome.css to make changes to the Bookmarks menu on a Mac.
On a Mac the OS creates and maintains the menu bar (incl. the Bookmarks menu) and Firefox doesn't have control over the menu bar, so you can't style that menu via userChrome.css.
You can style the drop down menu of the Bookmarks Menu button.
How can it be true that Firefox has no control over the menu bar? In earlier versions of Firefox, the menu size was fixed. In this version it isn't. I haven't changed my OS. The change in menu behavior is due to some sort of difference between the versions of Firefox. That doesn't necessarily mean that you can use Chrome to change the behavior. But it does mean that it's not entirely up to the OS how the menus behave.
Just upgraded to FF5 on my Mac, I had been waiting for some of my add ons to be updated and I've now got the Bookmark/History menu width to longest name problem back. With FF4 running in 32 bit seemed to sort it but that doesn't work in FF5. Why can't it be set in about:config, something just to limit the width to a set value instead of trawling through all your bookmarks to change the length of their "auto generated" names. (Wacom!) I think I'll have to go back toFF4 till a solution is found as its like playing tennis going through the sub-folders!
There must be a way to do this on a Mac from within FF as the Bookmark menu in Safari and Google Chrome both have fixed width? So the OS can't be controlling it otherwise Safari's and Chrome's menu would be the same as FF. Please find a Fix!

It is currently automatically adjusted to the longest name, but it should not.
So, will it be corrected? I do not want to change the names of my bookmarks, maybe developers want to correct their product?
