My homepage as well as my default browser keeps resetting to Yahoo after an update window appears before starting Firefox. How do I find out which program is modifying my settings? The following URL is what becomes the new homepage. https://us.search.yahoo.com/yhs/web?hspart=arh&hsimp=yhs-001&type=zxy_e11b6b8013aab423bb&param1=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&param2=NaJdLGV4NGp6

Hi  ! Unfortunately (as you may already have guessed) that search.yahoo.com
is malware : a browser hijacker, that you will of course want to get rid of.

Go to the 3-bar menu (or   'Tools') => Addons => Extensions and look for any unfamiliar or suspicious looking extensions, like e.g. :

SafeSearch Incognito SearchAssist Incognito Search for Fire Fox 1.6 SafeSearch ch SafeSearch net File Convertor and Search Addon

When you find any : remove them.

Do the same in Windows' Control Panel => Programs.

However :   most malware will be 'hiding' somewhere , so let's run malware scans :

Further information can be found in this article :
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware?cache=no

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners.
They all work differently   -   what one program doesn't pick up, the other might.
