I can't get into my yahoo bookmarks. I have spent time with AT&T and the conclusion they came to is that it may be a problem with Firefox and yahoo. Help please

I am using a HP Laptop NOT mobile device. Every time I try to go into my YAHOO bookmarks it asks me to sign in which I do to no avail. AT&T came to the conclusion it may be that Firefox and Yahoo are not working together. I just downloaded both the latest versions of Firefox and the yahoo toolbar again to no avail. Is there something with Firefox that is preventing me from getting into my yahoo bookmarks??

Do you have the box checked for automatic private browsing mode? In that case, when you open the Options dialog, the drop-down usually says "Firefox will: Never remember history". In that mode, Firefox does not keep your Yahoo cookie between sessions, so that would explain the problem.

Note: If you uncheck that box and start up in normal mode, you still can create private windows through the menu or using Ctrl+Shift+p.

If the problem is not caused by a Firefox setting, it's possible that an add-on or external software is clearing your cookies between sessions.

Is this problem limited to the toolbar? Or in other words, are you able to log in to Yahoo.com and stay logged in or do you have the same problem there?

If that also doesn't work, can you confirm that you allow "Third Party" cookies? This article describes those settings: Websites say cookies are blocked - Unblock them.

I'm not sure whether this is still an issue, but in the past users could not stay logged in to Yahoo! with a particular connection setting. You can check that here:

"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > Network mini-tab > "Settings" button

The problem is with auto-detecting. Try using "No proxy" and see whether that helps.

By the way, the toolbar available directly from Yahoo usually is more up-to-date than the version on the Mozilla Add-ons site.

I have tried all the different fixes you mentioned and none have helped. One more ? for you- Under "Use Custom Settings for History" should "private browsing mode" be checked or unchecked?

I had nothing in "Exceptions" and I deleted all the old history to clear it all out to no avail.

And yes I have the same problem with logging on initially-each time I start up I have to log on even though I have the box checked for "Keep me signed in"

As far as the bookmark sign in I was using the same log in as my initial log on which did not work. I then created a new account- also will not work. A notice pops up and states" This page has expired REFRESH and try again.

THANKS for all your time and patience. Step by step instructions have been very helpful THANK YOU

It seems one action leads to another: I checked "Use Custom Settings for HX" Unchecked "Always use pri. brow. mode" That automatically checked: remember my brow./download hx. remember search and form hx. accept cookies from sites came up "always" keep cookies till came up "expired" I checked ok since i had the bookmarks and and was asked if My password could be saved. It appears the problem is fixed. A

Are the above settings the ones I should now keep and just remember to periodically to clean out the hx ?? Once again, thank you for you patience and information.

It's really up to you how often you want to clear history. If you have a large hard drive, Firefox may save history for a year or more...

Hi ydelle, do you have an older version of the Yahoo! toolbar? Unfortunately, the Mozilla Add-ons site has an old version, and other users are reporting that it did not auto-update to the latest release (Feb. 19, 2015, version 3.2.10).

You can manually install that new version from Yahoo's site here:

https://us.toolbar.yahoo.com/

Does that help?

Hi ydelle, could you just double-check on the Extensions list that Firefox is using that new version?

Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then verify that Yahoo! toolbar is at:

version 3.2.10.20150219...

Unfortunately I think that's the latest available.

it says 3.2.3.20140507025036 would that be newer?

Hi ydelle, I think the version you have is from last Summer, since the date is in there: 3.2.3.20140507025036

I'm not sure why, but Firefox didn't pick up on the update. Have you exited and started Firefox back up again since you ran the new Yahoo installer? Maybe that will do the trick.
