I cannot connect to the internet with firefox, but IE and Chrome will. I have just removed AVG free addition 9.0. I have tried to turn off proxy server, nothing seems to work. I uninstalled FF and reinstalled. What am I missing

AVG was causing problems, and my machine would lock up after rebooting. I finally uninstalled AVG. Rebooted all is well. Connected with IE and it worked fine. Went on to Firefox and it will not connect to the net. No matter what website I got to (www.google.com), it fails and says no connection you are offline. Yet Chrome, and IE connect fine. I read one article on resetting your proxy server setting on options in FF, but that does nothing either. I am lost. What am I missing?

Ah I figured it out.....Mcafey was blocking it. Why on earth did AVG being uninstalled update mcafey settings, to block firefox?
