On an older machine running Thunderbird (latest version) for a while I can drag a message which contains a PDF attachment from an inbox of one Gmail account to a folder that's under another Gmail account. No problem there. On a new machine I just started and installed Thunderbird, I cannot move the same exact email message from the same source inbox to the same destination folder. The transfer times out. I can transfer messages that don't contain attachments on the new machine but not the one that has the attachment. So I can transfer the messages with attachments that way on the old installation but not on the new one, even though both are the same Thunderbird version.

Thanks for your help.

but is the anti virus in use the save version and settings. That sounds like the A/V slowing things to a crawl so the copy times out.

I have disabled A/V but it made no difference. The file size is not that huge either, even a 3.06 MB wont send. I also ran Thunderbird in troubleshooting mode and it made no difference.

the next logical step is try the operating system safe mode with networking.

That did solve the problem, hurray. But now the question is what's causing it. Any leads in mind?
