I've been a Chrome user for many years but I've always wanted to switch over to Firefox. I recently did but it's so slow, choppy and laggy for me, while Chrome, IE, Safari and Opera are running good.

Opening multiple tabs at once, loading web pages with much content (like youtube and news sites) takes seconds longer than it does with chrome and there's always some sort of delay. I've read performance comparisons so I know the difference shouldn't be that big.

I have a fast computer (SSD, Radeon HD 7970, i5 2500k etc) so that shouldn't be the problem either.

Help please!

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file (bookmarks, history) in the Firefox profile folder.

It is possible that your firewall or other security software blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to install for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
