your camera and microphone are being shared - Firefox Hello - how to get rid of it?
This apparently came up when I tried the new Firefox/Hello chat thing. It can only be moved left and right on the tab bar, blocking tabs or the minimize/window/fullscreen/close icons at the top right of the Firefox window.
Windows 8.0 64bit, Firefox 36.0.
When it appeared, it said "your camera and microphone are being shared". That's great/fine, but other than dragging it left and right on the tab "bar" area, I can't get rid of it or move it to a more out of the way place.
Left clicking, right clicking on the firefox icon, the camera icon or the microphone icon do nothing at all.
it does disappear if I close the chat window, but that's of no help if I want to chat and see all my Firefox tabs.
How do I get rid of it and retain the Firefox/Hello chat window?

In order to remove this please stop sharing the microphone.
- Click on the icon, and select "Control Sharing"
- The window sharing the device will show the share settings
- Click "Stop Sharing"
The icon should go away, did this help?

Thanks, but as mentioned NO clicking, left or right button, affected the icon anywhere. Only way to get rid of it was to close the new chat thing "hello" feature. NOT a good implementation.
Hi rwernst, I am sorry to hear this, there are developments being made on Firefox Hello everyday in Beta, Aurora and Nightly versions of Firefox as well if you would like to try this instead.
However in the release version it can be removed from the toolbar by customizing the menu:
Thanks, but that's NOT the icon/whatever that's in the way of my tabs. Please see the original post's attachment to see what I'm talking about that can't be moved other than back and forth along the tabs area.
There are two ways to approach this:
- Leaving feedback for the developers about the functionality of this icon in https://input.mozilla.org/en-US/feedb.../firefox?#moreinfo
- Suggest a functionality alternative in bugzilla cc sevaan -> however including the steps to reproduce, what is expected and what actually happens in the bug description is very important.
Thanks! I posted but not sure if in right place on bugzilla for mozilla/firefox, and no idea how to cc sevann, whoever that is.
In that case, input might be the way to go here.
