it won't open - when I right click on the firefox icon it says it is open and shows my home page location however nothing opens in the window and I can not access any of the firefox tools since the page will not show - and now it gives me a crash report everytime - I updated plugins - however I removed ghostery and ad-block yesterday before this started

The crash info does not seem to be as I would expected from a Fifefox crash report submission.

What are you using firefox on when it crashes ? is it a Windows 64bit computer, the same one you are using to write these messages ?

Have you read firefox crashes that explains how to submit crash reports and obtain the crash ID it is a long number, ( actually as string of letters and numbers) if it has been submitted it is prefixed with bp and it will end with numbers which are a date code.

(Presumably something else is processing your crash reports rather than them being submitted to firefox)

Two things you may try are

  1. update to the current release firefox 9
you appear to be using firefox 8
    • use getfirefox.com from Internet explorer to download the Firefox installer
do NOT use any options offering to remove personal settings
  2. read the article I linked to above and follow the advice such as, try updating everything, use safe mode and try to check for malware

You posted the crash date and time (Mon Jan 30 2012 14:46:24:0 GMT) instead of the crash GUID (bp-xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx)

You can find the IDs of the submitted crash reports on the about:crashes page. You can open the about:crashes page via the location bar, like you open a website.
