I have just installed the Compatibility Reporter add-on - it can enable the other add-ons considered as incompatible. It seems to work fine - after restarting Firefox twice (as required) it magically brought back my Google Toolbar and even Google Gears. You can find it here: [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fire.../?src=api]

Not only do I miss Google toolbar, but FF5 slowed my mac down to a crawl. I've trashed it - rather wait till they fix a few issues
the warning came before the end of the download/installation process. There you had the chance to get out of it... I didn't quite get what they were saying to me and just accepted. I am sure it will be there soon. Your Google account should still be accessible by typing google.com.... into your address bar
Be patient!!!
Now supposing a road that you use every day has just been re-surfaced and you are told that your vehicle is not compatible with it would you just sit back and accept it? Of course you wouldn't so why should we put with computer programmers screwing us?
Thank you thank you. this was very helpful. :))
The solution is to install the Add-on Compatibility Reporter. It will force Google Toolbar to work. You can find detailed instructions here: Re-enable add-ons that were disabled when updating Firefox
This is only a partially working solution...the new tab/most visited sites functionality does not work with this temporary fix.
Google Labs has been working on a Google Toolbar version 8, but it looks like it isn't made for Firefox - just for Internet Explorer.

Toolbar 8 works on the following browsers:
* Internet Explorer 7* * Internet Explorer 8* * Internet Explorer 9*
Maybe Google isn't going to be supporting Firefox any longer. That might be a move to force Google Toolbar users over to Google Chrome, which I believe has all those features built-in. Unless I am not looking in the right place for a Firefox version, with Firefox 5+ compatibility?
in Nagareboshi20's case, it magically brought back my Google Toolbar and even Google Gears. You can find it here: Add-on compatibility reporter https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-on-compatibility-reporter/
Set the built-in (default) search bar to use google or do : about:config look for keyword.url set value to : http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q= Now you can type your keywords into the address bar the same way you can in Chrome. The Google Toolbar would seem to be defunct.
