Hi, I upgrade Firefox to 89.0.2 from the previous version. The installer "locked-up" during the installation process. I am using Win 7 on a Dell Inspiron 64-bit laptop (2017) with plenty of memory. Never had problems before. The installer locks and I have to stop it via Windows Task Manager (setup.exe *32). I have reloaded the "Firefox Setup 89.0.2.exe" file several times, reloaded the previous version... no avail. It locks up. I tried to start the Firefox even if not fully installed, using Firefox.exe It stated that it did not close properly and to "refresh", which I did, the program browser started after saying "success", but then stopped responding (screen locked-up) while showing me the usual Firefox screen (i.e. with all my previous opened tabs, bookmarks...) After having deleted the program manually from its location, reloading it several times - the same issues took place. Can someone help, me? Thank you, Ciao, L

Hi FredMcD, First, thank you for your prompt answer, I really appreciate you taking the time and effort to help me out.

I tried to remove the 64-bit version via windows 7 uninstall (it was not listed), I could not do it via Win uninstall). I manually emptied the folder Mozilla Firefox from (C:\ Drive\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox I kept the profile(s) folder and its content intact: C:\Users\Lancelot\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox...

I loaded the current 32-bit update file as you recommended but the installer locks up after about ~15% load up. I was able to launch the program but again, it locks up looking for my profiles and when I direct the program to the profile folder - it states that my profiles could not be saved and locks up again.

I have used Firefox for over ~14 years and never had problems with automatic upgrades until the late-June upgrade.

Is there anything that I should manually remove from my computer in some other folder? I had not loaded/added any other software, program and extension at the time of Firefox' automatic update.

I have not been able use Firefox even though I can see all my previous tags when it locks up.

Thank you so much for your time and help sorting this out. Ciao, L

I manually emptied the folder Mozilla Firefox

Did you delete the folder contents, or delete the folder itself?

Let’s do a full clean re-install;

Note: Firefox comes in three or more folders on all computers. They are;

Maintenance: (Programs Folder) <Windows Only> Firefox itself: (Programs Folder) And two folders in the profile of each user on the computer for each Firefox profile for that user.

If you remove the Firefox folder, the user profiles would not be affected.

You are on 64-bit Windows 7, so why not install the 64-bit Firefox version ?

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support to see if that allows to install Firefox.
