If I do this: Click the search bar 'looking glass' Click 'Change search settings' Click 'Find more search engines'

I am taken to a list of 3707 available add ons of all sorts. Searching for Duck Duck Go gives a few hits, but none that will actually add the search engine.......

If I do this: Go to duckduckgo.com Click the search bar 'looking glass'

The Duck Duck Go search is NOT detected as a search field, showing in the search menu that pops up when clicking the search bar 'looking glass'. Thus I can't add it this way either.

DuckDuckGo is one of the built-in choices. Can you find it on the Search panel of the Options page?

  • Windows: "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options
  • Mac: "3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Preferences
  • Linux: "3-bar" menu button (or Edit menu) > Preferences
  • Any system: type or paste about:preferences into the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it

In the left column, click Search. Then in the second section of the page, "Default Search Engine", click the drop-down under "Choose the default search engine to use in the address bar and search bar" and see whether you can select DuckDuckGo there.

If it's missing, you could try the "Restore Default Search Engines" button near the bottom of the panel.

Any luck?

It was missing from the list, but "Restore Default Search Engines" did the trick. Thanks :)
