I recently updated Firefox on my laptop, and I'm no longer able to properly download images. I've read other support queries regarding this issue, and none of the solutions presented work for me.

Whenever I attempt to download an image from a website, Firefox forces it into WepP format, even if I manually add the correct file extension. When I right-click on an image and select "Save Image As" from the menu, the Windows dialogue box for selecting the save location and renaming the file doesn't give me the option to save as the correct type. The "Save As Type" dropdown only gives me "WebP" and "All Types" as options, and selecting "All Types" does not fix the issue.

In previous versions, the "Save As Type" dropdown would default to the correct file type based on the extension of the downloaded image (JPEG, PNG, etc.). This is the way it still works in all other browsers.

I have not found a workaround that solves this issue. Even if there *is* technically a "workaround", I shouldn't HAVE to work around it. This is a terrible user experience that is arbitrarily different than a) every other browser and b) than I've been doing it for well over a decade. Please fix this.

For context for one user: I download a LOT of images. I do a bunch of custom print work that requires me to find and download a ton of images ad-hoc, and I've been using Firefox for well over a decade to do this. It's my favorite browser.

This current functionality makes Firefox useless to me. I have no choice but to switch to Chrome or Edge, both of which I used to find inferior. This one issue will make me stop using Firefox altogether.
