Addresses do not move to new list

I have created a list, and now want to put addresses into the list. I highlight the addresses, and then left click and hold the mouse to drag to the list. But it does not show a drag icon, nor does it drop into the list. Can you steer me in the correct direction?

Image below shows an example of moving selected/highlighted contacts to a Mailing List called 'Test'. If you use a normal pointer icon, it still shows as a pointer icon and there is a barely visible small rectangular shape showing when you hover over the Mailing List. I've tried to imitate this in the image.

Left click hold down on highlighted items and then drag over so hovering over the Mailing List and then release to drop.

I've tried to imitate this in the image.
