display combined thread for sent and inbox messages in past
In an email account with years of accumulated messages , ist there a way to display whole threads that crossover between the sent mail folder and inbox folder.
A past answer for this question gave only a solution ONLY for going forward by adding a copy of a new send into the current inbox.
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1079651 This is a not a fix for trying toefficiently display threads from the past that already have separate installments in sent and inbox folders Thanks

You can view the complete received and sent messages in a specific thread by right-clicking a message, Open Message In Conversation. This doesn't require an add-on, but Global Search must be enabled in Options/Advanced/General.
Thankyou for a response and apology for my delay in continuing the thread
of this question. Do I hear correctly, that the method provides a retrospective view
for old mail that crosses over all of the mailboxes
(such as Outbox and Sent) based on search doing the inclusion. If this joins "conversation" for old email threads its a wonderful tool. In other posts about joining Outbox and Sent on thread views the answers seem to always offer a "forward going" action of forcing a copy of Sent into Outbox at the moment of original send
(In fact forcing copy of every send action) . Even having used "search"
to create thread views it never occurred to me that "search" could traverse through the configuration provided by "conversation mode and picking a single stitch of the thread. Yeah!! I do not have Thunderbird installed right now so I cant immediately replicate your menu pathway but this is what Ive been looking for.
I wonder how this feature exists or is named in other flagship
email clients? I found wording difficult to search for the question to find your answer.
Thankyou mayn

I can't confirm, but it appears a similar view can be created in Outlook as a Search Folder:
There is an add-on that may be useful: ThreadVis.
Conversations in TB work with messages of any age. If one decides to have sent messages stored in the same folder as received ones, that obviously takes effect when the setting is changed.
