Is http://www.lpmxp2010.com being used by firefox to prompt a media player update? If not is it possible to block them?
I am continually getting tabs popping (when I'm browsing various different sites) up from http://www.lpmxp2010.com trying to get me to update a media player. They are modeling the site after adobe and firefox websites and on the firefox version even showing a legal-looking user agreement. Both sites start a download without my permission. Is there a way I can block them, or if it is you sending them could you stop? It's very disruptive and concerning to me!

I've made reports about the site, but I'm not sure if the problem is only me or if this is effecting others as well...or if anything is being done to fix it.
No this is not a site that Mozilla nor the Firefox browser uses in any way. It sounds like one of those Ad popups that some sites may give.
Is there a way to block it?
Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- TDSSKiller - AntiRootkit Utility
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

The full scan by Microsoft Safety Scanner found nothing. I'll be running a full scan (I've already run a quick one) with my Microsoft Security Essentials (which I already had on my computer) tomorrow to be sure, but I don't think I'm going to get a different result. Are all the programs you listed equally comprehensive, or should I do an additional scan with one of them?
I've also just noticed the same website that I'm getting the pop up tabs from is also populating the adds on websites I'm visiting. I looked through the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article you provided a link for and used SuperAntispyware Portable Scanner. It found ad-ware tracking cookies. I've gotten rid of them so hopefully it will help. I'll keep you updated.

Ok, that didn't work.
"I've also just noticed the same website that I'm getting the pop up tabs from is also populating the adds on websites I'm visiting."
Web address is?
You could try searching for that domain prefaced by remove to look for specific articles about removing that garbage.
So a full scan by SuperAntispyware Portable Scanner uncovered a Trojan. It has now been removed. Hopefully that is the end of things.
Apparently not. And searching for "remove http://www.lpmxp2010.com" seems to produce no leads.

The same thing started in Google Chrome yesterday Could it be a new spying directive by the feds? I ripped google chrome out cause it pissed me off and installed firefox now its here too
This did not come with any version of Firefox for any OS from mozilla.org
Also I would be surprised if Google would include such in Chrome.
That link is a scam website trying to prey on inexperienced users. Variations of this page have popped up over time for IE, Chrome, Flash plugin, Firefox, Java and other things.
