After a virus, a new Firefox was loaded and my bookmarks appear not to be on my computer and I need to know how to retrieve them.

My computer got a virus (Trojan horse?). When being repaired, the "bookmarks file" was not saved. Is there any way to retrieve my bookmarks?

  • Go to run and type %appdata%


Go to

  • Mozilla folder
  • Firefox folder
  • Profiles folder
  • something.default
  • bookmarksbackups

{e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\t4wt0a0y.default\bookmarksbackups}

Please make sure that .JSON fomat files are there.

If the files are there then,

Press CTRL+SHIFT+B

Click Import and Backup option on the menu.

Choose Restore option.

Select Choose file... option and locate the folder containing .json format files.
