When I click on a new tab I keep getting a web search Bearshare and I don't know how to get rid of it - any suggestions?

I had downloaded Bearshare for music. Didn't like it and totally removed all traces using the control panel (so I thought). Now when I open a new tab, it shows up as search with the Bearshare logo. I would like to get rid of it and continue using my Google.

I don't know what to do, do I need to go into my registry? I hope someone has an answer.

Thank you.

See:

You can look for a "Mediabar" program under "Control Panel > Programs and features"

You have to uninstall "Mediabar" also

go to addons, and remove the "Core Search Engine for Browsers" or something like that, if you click "more" you'll notice as the homepage for that addon it says "search.bearshare.com" was annoying to find because it seems the intention was to disguise the new tab hijacking addon as some essential default thingy from mozilla... anyway, just disable that and it should be fixed. also go to "about:config" and in the filter box type "bear" to bring up all strings relating to bearshare and reset them all to their defaults.
