I really like the dark theme in Thunderbird - with one exception.

When replying to an email the compose window is black and I need it to be white as very often an email sent to me has text that is close to black in it which I find very difficult to read and refer to.

I am having to use the light theme as it gives me a white background in the reply / compose window as I cannot find a way to use the dark theme with a white compose / reply compose window background.

Please can you address this flexibility in a future release?

Thanks

It is dark because you are using a dark theme and users asked for it to be dark by default. They found the mix of light in a dark theme to be incorrect and not expected. In a light theme it will be light for the same reason.

You can choose the dark theme and make an adjustment as defined below.

To change the background to eg: White in the area where you compose emails do the following:

Menu app icon > Options select 'Composition' Under the 'HTML STYLE' section Background colour: click on the dark rectangular colour box and choose a 'white' colour from the colour selection, then click on OK.

Open a new 'Write' message to see effects.
