First, please re-do your password change using a trusted connection method. I suggest that because you may have be phished into revealing your account information to a hacker, and the faster you remove their access to your AOL account the better.

Second, what kind of computer do you have: Windows, Mac, or Linux?

What has changed language: only Firefox, or your entire system?

This doesn't seem to be a question for Firefox for Enterprise, so I will move the thread to the regular Firefox Support forum.

On second thought, are you using any method of connection that might appear to come through Germany? For example:

  • VPN (system wide or browser extension)
  • Peer-to-peer network like Hola
  • Onion routed network like TOR

That would explain both why AOL said "someone" was connecting from Germany -- possibly you -- and why the Firefox download page would serve you a file for someone in Germany.

The following page shows information associated with your current IP address and may help you determine whether you are connecting from your home network or somewhere else.

This page has Firefox installers in your choice of languages:

Best is to do a clean reinstall and download the current Firefox release (66.0.3) from the official Mozilla server.

Make sure you remove the Firefox program folder before installing the newly downloaded Firefox version.

  • (64-bit Firefox) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
  • (32-bit Firefox) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"

Your personal data like bookmarks is stored in the Firefox profile folder, so you won't lose personal data when you reinstall or update Firefox, but make sure NOT to remove personal data when you uninstall Firefox as that will remove all Firefox profile folders and you lose your personal data.
