Every 15 minutes or so a small popup appears at the bottom right of my screen with a few of my latest emails, telling me that I have a new message, and playing a sound. I do NOT want this, as it is very distracting. I want to simply check my email in Thunderbird when I'm ready. Thanks for info on how to turn off this notification. Juliana

Chosen solution

At the top right of the Thunderbird window, click the menu button > Options > General > When new messages arrive: Uncheck 'Show an alert'. Uncheck 'Play a sound'.

I need a way to turn notifications ON. The options page says it's on, but I get no notification of new emails whatsoever in Windows 10. On my Mac, it shows a change of the Thunderbird icon right in the dock. Why Thunderbird can't do that for the task bar in Windows 10, I just don't know. I get no alerts or Notifications either. An email program that won't tell you that you've got new mail waiting isn't very useful. I'm running version 60.7.32 in the latest Windows 10 Pro.
