My computer crashed following a Windows 10 update. Prior to this Thunderbird was crashing regularly but restoring normally on reopening. I had to reset the computer and have since managed to install the Windows upgrade. Now when I open Thunderbird I have to right click to open each folder (such as inbox). I lose access to that folder if I navigate away. I can open multiple panes (so I can see my second email account). I cannot delete messages from my main email account from the message list. I have to right click to open the message and then delete the open message. When I close the pane the message disappears from the list. I have reviewed the instructions on problems deleting messages, it seems to have solved this part of my problem on my second email account but not on the primary one when I follwed the instructions on it.

suggestions welcome

Chosen solution

I backed up and then unistalled, I seemed to have to versions and got rid of both. I reinstalled. It now seems to be working normally.

Thank you

Have you tried to uninstall/reinstall Thunderbird? Make a back-up before, if not already done..

Thunderbird separates the program installation and the profile data. The problem is related to the profile. Re-installing the application will be a waste of time.
