Since Firefox update 31, I cannot reply to incoming emails. When I try to send an email or reply to one I get this message: Unable to Load Null Status: 404. I use Verizon webmail and they say it's a Firefox problem. Using Mac Mini Mac OS-X 10.6.8

Chosen solution

Back to working normally tonight on v32 beta. Thanks to all who put in hours of work to fix the problem.

Yes Wayne, same thing. I can send an email from Firefox but have to go to Safari to reply or forward. I wish they would come up with a fix soon.

I am having the exact problem as Ann,

Unable to load null status:404 error whenever I try to reply or Forward an email. Webmail.verizon.net works fine on Internet Explorer. The error message started this morning, 7/22, when i updated to Firefox V31 -vacruiser

Ok. It's June 23rd and Firefox automatically updated at some point during the night. Now I have lost functions in Verizon webmail such as forwarding, replying and saving drafts. What a nuisance. I just read this thread and see the problem started already 5 weeks ago. WHAT THE ___ IS FIREFOX DOING ABOUT THE GLITCH?????

I'm being forced to download & use another browser.

Vintage, I have tried everything to bypass or eliminate the glitch of ---no reply, --no save--- and no forward, ------with Verizon webmail, to no avail.

Just to be 100% certain it was a V31 problem, I logged onto my travel laptop (WindowsXP) and cancelled all updating when I checked the FireFox version there. It was still operating on V30 AND VERIZON WEBMAIL WORKED PERFECTLY.

As I wrote before, I also found that webmail works perfectly using Internet Explorer on the same WindowsXP platform that has the unworkable FireFox V31. Guess where I am going although I don't like IE.

Mozilla group, PLEASE give us an option update immediately that restores V30 !!!!! -vacruiser

Cruiser,

The email features now missing in Firefox continue to work in IE. Don't like IE either but Firefox isn't giving an option.

Mozilla group, PLEASE GIVE US AN OPTION UPDATE IMMEDIATELY THAT RESTORES V30 !!!!!

I have same problem since uploading 31. Verizon webmail works fine in explorer browser but not in latest version of Firefox. I can send newly composed email using webmail on firefox but not a "reply to" or "forward to" email. Really love firefox... or used to!

Today update v32 beta 1 happened and still problem is not solved. Is Mozilla even paying attention to this? I looked at Bugzilla and cannot even see it listed as being addressed.

I've filed a bug on this so let's see what's up.

Hi ann1026, a few hours have passed and a bug has been filed. However, I don't know how many developers have access to Verizon webmail, so some volunteers might be needed to help with testing.

Note to all readers: it's generally not helpful to add "me too"/"hurry up" comments to bugs, but you can register on the Bugzilla site and "vote" for them to be fixed. See:

Has anyone tried a new profile, or know anyone with a test account?

We are currently still looking into the issue however need to show the engineers how to reproduce this issue. I understand that this is frustrating and I am treating this as a priority. May I please request a screenshot please for the bug. How do I create a screenshot of my problem?

I have the screenshot on my desktop but not sure how to get it to post herehttps://support.cdn.mozilla.net/media/uploads/images/2014-07-25-12-37-56-8737fc.png

ann thank you, this tells that it is an error on the website and not playing well with Firefox. But finding out why this is next. Do any contributors have ideas how to investigate this? all I can think of is the web console.

guigs2, V30 worked perfectly for all of us. Without knowing how the code is written, I would suggest: 1. you start with looking at the changes made to generate V31. What did you add and what did you remove from V30 2. Then determine what section and code generates the "unable to load null status: 404 error. 3. In the meantime, to keep Verizon webmail people from migrating to Internet Explorer or another browser, offer an optional update ASAP to a V32 which would be a simple reversion with all the V30 operating code as it was. Using the update code should prevent loosing data, provide a useable system, & prevent migration away from FireFox until you have found and solved the problem with V31 -vacruiser

I understand that version 32 beta also has the problem

Tophat, I posted on 7/24 that V32 beta does have the same problem.

What is the step that generates the error message: clicking Send? Or does it occur before that, for example, while the site is laying out the reply/forward message (before you can start typing).

more options

jscher - Yes. The error message pops up when Send. As others have said, it only happens when trying to forward or reply to emails.
