I am been using "Provider for Google Calendar" for many years for my calendar. Suddenly when I now pull up the calendar tab there is no events. The Google email for the calendar is listed in the left column but is greyed ouy and can't be selected. If I click on it I get a popup which has a place to enable the calendar but that also is greyed out. I get a message at the top of the calendar scree that says that all calendars are currently disabled.

I had to update the 'Provider for Google Calendar ' app. Got my calendar back but the 'Calendar Tweaks' app no longer works due to Thunderbird 'improvements'.

You might try to downgrade to v68 --allow-downgrade commandline switch to downgrade your v78 profile for use with v68. After that if provider calendar not showing you should search for "Lightning" and "Provider" add-ons version which will match with that thunderbird version (v68) on /version page for those add-ons.
