I keep getting the following message on Firefox:

"Some users of AVG Internet Security Software are unable to access their saved passwords and logins"

I don't like the look of it and there are two click buttons, neither of which I have touched.

Screen shot attached.

Anyone have any idea what this is?

It doesn't really fill me with confidence about Firefox that AVG software can push this into the browser, maybe I am wrong.

Firefox is obviously aware of the current problem with AVG and merely provided information.

If you don't want to see this message again, would you try this please :

Type in the address bar about:config and press Enter (promise to be careful, if asked)

Type in the search bar and look for the preference :

app.normandy.enabled and make sure its value is set to false

If you had to change the value, then close and restart Firefox.

Yes, it can be our info. If you've lost passwords, there's a solution to bring it back.

Hello EssJayDee :

In addition to the above (to be on the safe side) : just close that banner.

In case you use AVG software please see :

See: Are you using AVG software (AVG Password Protection)?

See:

Mozilla created an extension to recover logins.json from a logins.json.corrupt file.

I was more wondering why/how AVG (I have AVG on my computer) have managed to get this to appear in my Firefox browser. It reappears every time I have closed down Firefox. I keep my passwords elsewhere anyway, and I am loathe to let AVG have sight of them.

It doesn't really fill me with confidence about Firefox that AVG software can push this into the browser, maybe I am wrong.

AVG doesn't push anything in Firefox. AVG (AVG Password Protection feature) prevents Firefox from accessing logins.json and this makes Firefox rename the file to logins.json.corrupt and start with a new file.

Thanks Cor-el.

Slightly confused now how this appears (see image) which is in Firefox. Is this actually a Firefox message (excuse my ignorance)

Wow, finally a solution to get rid of that stupid "heart" message. I have used AVG FREE forever, and I will never use the payed version so I don't need this "warning" every day of my life.

Ok, I did as you directed, no problem, I've had to deal with about:config settings before and it seems to me this should work. Thank you so much!!

Whoops, this was the answer for me, thank you so much!! Accidentally quoted the wrong reply ;)
