I use Signature Switch as I have several signatures that I need for work. I want to add an animated gif and do so using the html area. The gif never shows, just a blank box the size of the gif. I wrote to the developer of Signature Switch, but no reply.

Anyone have any ideas?

If I copy a message file of Local Folders from the Thunderbird profile on one computer to the corresponding path on another computer, will Thunderbird process it correctly?

I see my e-mails in Local Folders are stored in this file, /home/norio/.thunderbird/<random>.default-release/Mail/Local\ Folders/<subfolder_name>.sbd/Inbox If I copy this file to the same path (except rewriting <random> string) on another computer by OS's commands (like cp and rsync), will the messages show up in Thunderbird on the destination computer?

I see many back-up and recovery articles that instructs the users to copy the entire profile directory and copy it to the new computer. I wonder if I can copy only a message file, so that I don't have to overwrite the entire settings and messages on the destination computer.

Hi everyone, After setting up an auto-reply on one of my mail accounts, I get the auto-response but at the bottom of the signature is literal pages of random characters, completely unrelated to the auto-reply text (see attached screenshot). I am a very retired programmer (K&R C mostly starting in early 70's. Not C++ or .NET stuff). About 20 years ago I became legally blind - low vision, only very center of one eye, loss of most color perception and need high contrast. Dark mode is usually better. For years I used WordPad to take notes with large font etc., but WordPad is no longer in Windows 11. I rarely save the notes, it is sort of my large print Post-It note - more than phone numbers, messages for wife, etc. For small stuff like that I use my 8x10 white board with dry-erase marker. I switched from Outlook to TB about 2 years ago. Wonderful. But it appears that it insists that I save as DRAFT etc. where I usually don't want to save it (or retrieve it by selecting from not large font list of items in the DRAFTS folder. Life expectancy for sheet if preinted is measurered in hours if I want/need to print it. Is there a way to make use of the TB editor as a standalone? Forget Word with its unfriendly ribbon etc. Ditto for OpenOffice, LibreOffice, NotePad++, etc. They are all to heavy, awkward to launch/start up, etc. I don't need TO:, SUBJECT: etc. I don't need multi-documents at once.

I use TextPad and ZoomText (magnifier/reader with all sorts of enhancements such as full-screen cross hars to help me find the cursor / mouse pointer) for recreational programming etc., too many features etc. to launch or get out of. No, I don't want a copy out on OneDrive - not on my phone, not on my tablet etc. Although speech recognition would be nice, but then again that could be disruptive in home environment. My wife is not a fan of Alexa.

Perhaps find a way to grab WordPad from somewhere? (I doubt that I have media for, say, W7 or earlier. Then there's compatibility issues, ... )

Lastly, I apologize for all of those 'etc.' - this question would have been a lot longer without them.

Thanks, Nick

I am trying to setup Thunderbird to ONLY send emails from a specific account that does not have inbound capabilities. I ONLY have SMTP creds for this account.

It seems that unless I add a mail account (like gmail, etc) to Thunderbird I am not able to do this? There has to be something that I am setting up incorrectly, though.

How do I add an SMTP only account AND be able to send from Thunderbird?

I am using Version 128.5.2esr (64-bit)

All my email accounts are hosted at siteground. I recently created a new domain, website, and two email addresses there. Siteground support tested the new email addresses and said they work fine. But when trying to set up these new email accounts in Thunderbird - 128.5.2esr (32-bit) - I keep getting error messages. I know the passwords are correct because I checked them in Settings. After the first step in setup, I always get "Configuration found at email provider". If I click "Done", I get "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password". If I click "Configure manually" and then "Re-test", I get "Thunderbird failed to find the settings for your email account".

After working fine for years, Thunderbird stopped receiving email from my POP accounts a month ago and I haven't been able to get it to work since. After weeks of experimentation and frustration, the only way I can get TB to download POP mail is to install and run it in Windows Safe Mode with networking. However, once installed in Windows Safe Mode, TB run in Windows normal mode will successfully send messages from each account.

It would take pages to describe everything I've tried, so I won't. The results of all the tweaking and updates is the system specs below.

I'm at a total loss as to what I've missed or where to look next. I would appreciate any help.

Good morning, I had asked a question early on Saturday, but was unavailable the rest of the weekend so just now responding to associate Corey Bryan's answer. I had gotten a message that I am using an unsupported version and they recommend downloading the latest stable version.

He said it appears that I'm on the "Release" channel and most likely want to be on the ESR channel. I also mentioned that I am a cave-man when it comes to anything computer and am very skittish about making any changes as I don't how to straighten out any errors that might occur.

He asked me where I installed Thunderbird from and the answer is that I don't know. It was an IT guy that did it many years ago.

So I guess my questions are, if I've been using this version for years, do I need to or should I update it? If so, if I click on the latest stable version of Thunderbird, will that change anything on my computer, aside from getting the newer version of T-Bird? And will my e-mails in Thunderbird look any different?

Thanks very much for the help. Tony
