I see an archived question that's similar but no real answer was provided.

I'm running Ubuntu 22 and I've checked to see if there's a way to only mute Firefox but so far I have not found anything. Chrome works fine. Videos and audio clips play fine. My Audacity and other editing tools work fine. Only Firefox refuses to play any audio.

Does Firefox sound work normally when not using Audacity? Also, try downloading Firefox from Mozilla, unzip, and run firefox-bin from the folder and see if you have the same issue. https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/#product-desktop-release

What Desktop? I can mute Firefox if wanted. see screenshot If I'm missing something, please advise.
