Scammer showed up as a known contact even though the email address was not in my contacts. I replied because I trusted unnecessarily.
I have attached a screenshot of the incoming message from a scam email. It was a request to buy an itunes gift card. Although the name of the sender is mentioned in the subject, the message came from an email address that is not in my contacts. In spite of this, the Correspondents column showed the trusted name, which caused me to respond, although I didn't send money. Can the trusted name be replaced with the actual bogus email address? That would add security.

On the Quick Filter Bar (under View/Toolbars) there is a Contacts button that will only show messages from people in your address book. It appears to match according to the email address. While this will detect an address that's not in your address book, it won't reveal messages that have been sent by spammers who use the actual address of one of your contacts.

It's possible to display the sender's email address as a column in the Threads Pane (message list):
Maybe an alert could be posted if a Correspondent is using an unfamiliar address. Thanks for the reply
