Every time Firefox wants to update, rather than notifying me and giving me a chance to save/close whatever I'm working on, it freezes right in the middle. I've lost work several times now because of this problem. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there any way to stop Firefox from doing this?

Hi, sorry to hear of issue. The best thing to do would be as per your question to deal with it as you are doing now to prevent. Also to save your work and update when Firefox Notifies you of a update. That being said I am not a mac person. I do not know where the folders are kept on a Mac for Firefox. I can give you 1 option that is relatively painless and takes about 7mins to do and another a little more painful.

So please try to find the folders : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 59.0 with a Full Version Installer

More painful : Please Refresh but do this 1st: Delete your Cookies and Cache and TEST.

then

TEST....... If no issues then Extensions which need to be added back in 1 at a time and tested ..... Or it is your Profile : Make a new one and test ...:

If is your Profile :

Note: Any customization will revert back to default, you will also need to reinstall Extensions.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
