where is the sent messages folder?
I cannot find a folder for Sent messages nor for Drafts. Where are they?

A bit more info would be useful :)
So, i'm presuming you use Windows OS and are running the latest version of Thunderbird.
As I have no idea whether you use POP or IMAP, I'll give both info:
If POP: As you have not mentioned what setting you have in your Account Settings under 'Copies & Folders', I'll assume it is set to 'Place a copy in' the 'Sent folder on the pop mail account' or if a deferred pop mail account using a global Inbox, it will say you are using 'Sent folder on' Local Folders mail account.
The 'Sent', 'Drafts', 'Template' and 'Archives' folders will only appear when you use them. so if you send an email, then the 'Sent' folder will appear in the left Folder Pane containing a copy of the email.
If IMAP: Imap mail accounts see a remote view of the folders on the server. You have to subscribe to see those folders. Right click on the mail account name and select 'subscribe'. You should see your 'Sent' or sometimes it is called 'Sent Items' folder which you can select to see.
Note: if this is a gmail account, then you do not need to set the option 'Place a copy in' as gmail will do this automatically.
Where are the Account Settings I'm refering to: 'Tools' > 'Account Settings' > 'Copies & Folders' for the mail account. OR right click on mail account name in left folder Pane and select 'Settings' then select 'Copies & Folders' for that mail account.
Hope this helps.
