Suddenly, *only with Firefox* all computers in the house show (Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long) when trying to access any Google product.
Today, all laptops in the house (latest ver of FF) began throwing the error:
(Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long)
When trying to access any Google products: gmail, Google+, analytics, Google website, etc

Make sure to reset the security.tls.version.max pref to 1 if you have previously changed this pref to 0 to disable TLS 1.0

Same problem here, all https sites on all computers in my house. I'm on Shaw as well in South Surrey...
Modified
I'm in Maple Ridge, B.C. Also on Shaw, so I definitely detect a pattern here.
Anything associated with my Google account or Facebook is failing to connect. I had to use IE just to confirm my e-mail in order to post in this thread. Ew, lol.
Hopefully this is resolved soon, couldn't have happened at a worse time when I have a paper due tomorrow. I'm unable to even browse unless I use the yahoo toolbar or something.
Oh I forgot to mention. Even Firefox on my phone, if I'm connecting using my wifi, displays the very same error. However, if I switch to mobile browsing it works just fine.
The default browser on my phone still works fine in either case.
Does disabling IPv6 make any difference? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-cant-load-websites-other-browsers-can#w_ipv6
ISP is also Shaw. Only affecting Firefox. Can connect to https://*.google.* with Chrome or Opera with no problem. Also works for Firefox if using proxy or VPN.
Disabling ipv6 seems to have no effect, unfortunately.
Temporary solution: use another browser or use a proxy/VPN as mentioned above, or, change user agent of firefox. Easy way to do this is install User Agent Switcher extension. *UPDATE: CHANGING USER AGENT DOES NOT WORK*

I've been going CRAZY for half the day trying to troubleshoot this - I'm glad I'm not alone. I am in South Surrey, too, using Shaw.
I double-checked proxy settings (no proxy is set) I performed full virus scan (AVG) I performed 2 full malware scans in safe mode (Malwarebytes, Spybot) I did a FireFox reset
Nothing worked. This problem only seems to occur for me with Facebook and Google, and only on Firefox. No other browsers are having this issue.
I'm having the same problem, and I'm in Mission, BC. Also connected with Shaw.
I actually had it working for a small moment when I restored my router to factory default settings. Google.ca was working for a moment. Then after I set my router up with all the proper settings I tried google again and it was doing that error again. Further attempts to restore router to factory default have failed so I don't know how it worked the first time. I've been trying every solution in the book to fix it, glad to know I'm not the only one.

Does temporarily disabling SPDY have any effect?
- network.http.spdy.enabled = false
- network.http.spdy.enabled.v2 = false
- network.http.spdy.enabled.v3 = false
Disabling SPDY has no effect for me.
Also, editing user agent does not work, I was able to load https://www.google.com once, maybe just a coincident?
Name: Firefox Version: 25.0 User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:25.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/25.0
Yep I am having this same exact issue, so I am guessing shaw messed something up. I am in Surrey with shaw as well. I have tried every troubleshooting thing out there I could find. Nothing seems to work.
I just spoke to Shaw, also in South Surrey they said the opposite. There's no problem, they don't see a problem.
Did you also update to FF 25.0 today?
I was on 24.0 this morning and it was working fine. It auto updated to 25.0 and I haven't been able to access google or facebook from Firefox since. I'm about to install 24.0 again.
I JUST called them, they had an automated message saying "we are having problems with firefox blah blah," they are looking into it. So I just hung up. Seems like there is a problem with shaw and firefox right now.
Ill give it one day.
I just updated it today, but it was having problems before the update, (I only updated it cause I thought it would have fixed the problem)
@distillia They are aware of the issue and this thread. You probably just talked to a 1st level tech support rep.
www.google.com does not work get below, but www.google.ca works for me

I am a Shaw customer as well ...........hopefully they fix the dang thing soon. Can't access Facebook from Firefox! Getting the same message: Secure Connection Failed
An error occurred during a connection to www.facebook.com. SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length. (Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long)

My buddy is having the same issue. Although I am not. This is strange because we are both on Shaw in BC. Although I'm in Burnaby and he is in Surrey. I also do not have internet explorer installed at all on my computer.
It seems to be localized to Surrey shaw customer, and a few other areas...
