Hello, I installed FF 20 on my wife's desktop [Dell Inspiron 537s, Windows 7 Home Premium SP1]. The emails [Yahoo] she sends often arrive at the recipients inbox in a Middle Eastern style language instead of english. I've reinstalled FF three times over the last 6 months or so but this problem keeps returning. This only happens in Firefox; never in I.E. or Chrome. One thing to note: She is a bit "Artsy" so she fiddles with the styles of text, font and colored backgrounds with every email to make everyone feel "special". She makes these changes within Yahoo's web mail only. Not within her operating system. Any thoughts on this? Many thanks to you all, Mike

This can happen if the emails are displayed as UTF-16.

You can check the encoding to make sure that it is set to UTF-8.

  • Firefox > Web Developer > Character Encoding
  • View > Character Encoding

cor-el Thanks so much for your reply. It is set for UTF-8 now. I'll have to keep an eye on it for her. At least now I know how to access Character Encoding which is very helpful for the present and the future. Thanks and T'care, Mike
