How can I get a webpage to load dialogs after mistakenly clicking "prevent this page from creating additional dialogs"?

I still need to be able to have dialogs load with the webpage. I am not able to see any images on this webpage since clicking this button by mistake. Clearing the cache does not address the problem; Re-creating my profile does not correct the problem. Firefox needs to address this issue as it is happening to too many web apps.

Jscher200....you rock!! The Real Player was the problem. I uninstalled it. I didn't take any chances with having part of the app on my system, and my Flash Slide show works perfectly well. I was chasing down the wrong alley because I assumed a relationship between the clicking of the "prevent additional pages from executing dialogs" and the absence of images via the Flash Player. Thank so very much!! Your tenacity and thoroughness have helped me immensely.

I thought that setting was very temporary, just the current Firefox session. If you always resume your previous session, could you test without that? In other words, could you test starting up to your home page or a blank page?

You can change your startup option here:

orange Firefox button or classic Tools menu > Options > General

Does that make any difference?

You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to make the messages and dialog windows appear again.

  • Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Cmd + Shift + R" (MAC)

Jscher2000...I did what you suggested, and I cannot see my images transition as they were prior to me clicking on the "prevent additional........" button.

Cor_el.....I have reloaded that page more times than I can count. That hasn't helped either.

Really at a loss as to why the page is performing in this manner, when IE works fine. Google Chrome works fine...Other profiles on this computer work fine, so it is not the website, but something that has gotten corrupted during one of my sessions and is still corrupted. It is as if the system has retained the behavior related to the clicking and can't "undo" it. It is very frustrating...

Having spent a few minutes on the site, I'm going to guess you disabled the dialogs because they were interfering with right-clicking the images. Is it possible you accidentally blocked images while using the site? In earlier versions of Firefox, you could do that from the right-click menu when you meant to save the image.

To review and remove image blocks, try this dialog:

orange Firefox button or classic Tools menu > Options > Content

Click the Exceptions button to the right of "Load images automatically" and remove any sites that you don't really mean to block.

Does that make any difference?

Jscher2000, Thanks for your feedback. I am not blocking any images via the Options > Content. However, I am noticing that I am missing other content. When I went to this webpage to view this web template, I am getting a blank page in the center (like my website) where there should be a transition of photos. Demonstration of How My Website should behave

I am wondering if I should uninstall and reinstall Adobe Flash Player...not sure if that will help.

Can you attach a screenshot to show what you are missing?

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot.

If the slide show is the part not working, I believe that is a Flash slide show. There are some compatibility issues between the latest Flash player and some Firefox add-ons or settings. Could you see whether anything in this article helps: Flash 11.3 doesn't load video in Firefox.

I'm having this issue too! I tried to reload the page and bypass the cache to make the dialog windows appear again but that didn't work. I need to be able to see the dialogs from my webpage.

Hi Reggy, have you tried starting a completely new Firefox session (i.e., restarting without restoring your previous session)?

If that doesn't help, could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings).

First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)

Next, restart Firefox in Firefox's Safe Mode (Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode) using

Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode."

Do dialogs work?

Hi jscher2000, thank you but unfortunately this did not help. The problem still exist. I restarted Firefox in Safe Mode but nothing changed. Any other suggestions?

You can also try Private Browsing mode to see if that helps or try "Forget About This Site"

You can remove all stored data from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry (Show All History or History sidebar) or via the about:permissions page.

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove everything like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions from that domain, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make a note of those passwords and bookmarks.
You can't recover from that "forget" unless you have a backup of the affected files.

It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.
