Youtube forces keys to the media

Hey guys,

A problem with YT just appeared out of nowhere and I can't seem to fix it.

Somehow, YT (and only YT) forces all keys, that control the player, to be permanently active and bound to it. Meaning, when I try to type anything into YouTube's search bar, or the comments, it will also affect the video currently playing. (Spacebar (un)pauses, M mutes, T switches to cinema mode, etc.)

While typing anything on YT, the spacebar is completely disabled, so I can't even separate words. Interestingly, this particular side effect applies even at the YouTube starpage, when there is no video playing.

Any other media player is unaffected by all of this. It's only a problem with YouTube

Can't remember anything that started it in particular. It just happened after I loaded another video and tried to type something. Might've hit a combination that activated it, but I don't know.

Firefox runs on version 86 (64 bit). Reinstalling and resetting the profiles didn't help. YouTube in any other Browser still works normally.

Any advice? And thanks in advance.

Yes, during the past two hours reports have flooded in. We think Google did an update but we don't have a fix yet. Hopefully in a few hours we'll have clarity on the problem and workarounds.

The Firefox sub-reddit (on Reddit) also is a place to check for news as there are hundreds of comments on this.
