I only use Thunderbird. I recently changed my email and want to migrate the former emails, folders, etc. into my new email account in Thunderbird. Trying the IMPORT feature doesn't seem to get me where I need to be. It's looking for Outlook, etc. This is just the new email account being able to copy/access settings strictly within Thunderbird.

You set up both accounts, side by side, and then use drag and drop, or better (IMHO) right-click|Move to….

The Import option is there to support transferring your data from another email client. You don't need to "import" (or "export") to simply move data between accounts.

This is a start, but I'm more of a "step-by-step" person. I understand the concept, but you mention setting up the accounts side-by-side. That tells me that I should be able to have both the old and new accounts open and visible on one screen to move folders/messages. I need more detail to make that happen. Right now, I can open the old account to read past messages, but I have to close it to open the new account.
