Hello,

I recently upraded to Firefox 57, since then None of the add-ons for Firefox 57 that I have installed are active and working. There is no setting section or any way to turn them on and use them?

Btw, I'm not referring to legacy extensions. I have found new add-ons, and installed them, but none of them work or have the settings button to configure them. For example I have Adblock plus and Ublock installed, they are both enabled but I see tons of ads on every site I visit.

I have enclosed a screen shot of the google translate extension, you'll see it's enabled but there is no way to configure it through setting and it does not work at all.

Anyone have any ideas?

Please help,

-Rocky

Hello,

The Refresh feature (called "Reset" in older Firefox versions) can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information.

Note: When you use this feature, you will lose any extensions, toolbar customizations, and some preferences. See the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article for more information.

To Refresh Firefox:

  1. Open the Troubleshooting Information page using one of these methods:
    • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click help Help-29 and select Troubleshooting Information. A new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
    • If you're unable to access the Help menu, type about:support in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting Information page.
  2. At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Refresh Firefox" ("Reset Firefox" in older Firefox versions). Click on it.
  3. Firefox will close. After the refresh process is completed, Firefox will show a window with the information that is imported.
  4. Click Finish and Firefox will reopen.

Did this fix the problem? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

Quick question, if I do this will I lose all my open tabs after the Refresh?

I have over 70 tabs open, so I want to know, because in that case I will manually save all the tabs before doing this.

Thank you for your suggestion, I will wait for your reply!

Refreshing Firefox -- easily fix most problems

If you're having problems with Firefox, refreshing it can help. The refresh feature fixes many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information like bookmarks and open tabs. Everything else, like user settings and add-ons, are removed.

Here are your choices; 1) Contact its support and ask if they will update 2) Find a replacement 3) Downgrade to a prior Firefox 4) Do without

I have a somewhat similar problem. I can install and run Add-Ons, but every time Firefox re-starts, the add-on's are lost and I have to re-install them. This happens on all my PC's. The most annoying one is the Tab session manager, and it' MOST annoying restarting after a crash (which seems to happen more often than I'd like!) Tab Session Manager and Ublock are most important to me.

DaunY It’s possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.

Type about:support in the address bar and press enter.

Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To its right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

Delete all extensions files and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.

New files will be created when required.

After, restart Firefox.

See "Corrupt extension files":

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++ You will have to approve the updating one last time.

I tried your suggestion, and at first I thought it might have worked, but no, it hasn't. It seemed OK for a couple of days, but there was an update a day or so ago, and it wiped everything out again, and I had to download them *again*. Do you have any other suggestions?
