I just started getting this black screen instead of some youtube videos whilst they are running , and whilst the sound still goes on perfectly fine. It's rare that it happens and it can change into the normal image, and when i change from full screen view to normal view it can also change back to the normal/real image. Does anyone know what that could be from?

Maybe is a a good idea to reset all prefs by deleting the prefs.js file in the Firefox profile folder to cleanup the prefs because your troubleshooting information shows preferences from older Firefox versions that are no longer supported in the current releases. You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

Whenever i use adwcleaner i think it always deletes the prefs file so.. is it the same thing?

Make sure you update ALL of your programs / add-ons. In cases like Avast and other programs, it might be better to get the current full installers. As to those add-ons that are outdated, check if there are others that can do the same job.

If you post the outdated programs, we can recommend something.

By "old" , i meant that i've been using them for quite some time, not that they're outdated, but if you want to recommend any addons or programs, i will be happy to hear

Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web link} (There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for what you want.

Sorry, I misunderstood. But do check for any updates.

If you have problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions then check this:

  • see if there are updates for your graphics drive drivers

https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration

  • disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)

https://forums.adobe.com/message/4468493#TemporaryWorkaround

  • disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

In the past blocking cookies in youtube made a difference here. I am thinking its not an extension guys since it also happens in Safe Mode.

I feel like flash is actually interfering with saving sessions through session manager, which in turn is actually using up more ram during a session and then crashes and doesnt manage to save the current session properly

By the way, how can I get rid of left overs from old removed addons like the loading line when FF loads pages for example?

I think i installed some addon to bring up some of the features from the old FF and now i still have that loading thing, which i think i removed that addon and i certainly do not want that thing to bloat firefox more than it already is

Good programs, when they are uninstalled, remove themselves fully. But there are some that leave something behind.

What program created the loading line?

I think it was something along these lines https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/firefox-2-theme-for-firefox-3x/?src=search

But i can't be sure, is there a way to find out ? Do you remember that line that used to load up when a site is loading up (when you refresh or first click on a page)

I have this one ,but i dont think it has that https://addons.mozilla.org/bg/firefox/addon/the-addon-bar/

And i don't think i've had this one installed on this pc, but i did have it on the other one https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/cstbb/?src=search

Refresh Firefox {web link} is a LAST RESORT ! !

Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings

If you're having problems with Firefox, refreshing it can help. The refresh feature fixes many issues by restoring Firefox to its default state while saving your essential information like bookmarks, passwords, and open tabs.

These add-ons can be a great help by backing up and restoring Firefox

FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension) {web link} FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your Firefox extensions, history, passwords, and more. In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild your saved files individually into installable .xpi files. It will also make backup of files that you choose.

I make febe backups consistently, but i do not want to "refresh" firefox

I think part of this issue could also have been my cache filling up as I had set it at 700mb at the time, increasing it seems to have worked for a little while, although I had never received that issue before that. Certainly I try to limit my usage to a couple of videos at a time now...

Should I also export and subsequently import the entire profile ,or just do it piece by piece? And what does the profile contain, just those basic things like passwords, usernames, bookmarks, or is there more? Is there a link that describes the full contents? Thank you

Doesn't Firefox manage this himself for add-ons? If not, it would be a good idea to do so. I mean: having a reserved walled space for the add-on, and cleaning it when the add-on is removed. I think Apple does that for apps in iOS.
