I think my old Thunderbird account is sending spam, but I can't remember my password. How to fix this?

People have been getting spam messages from "me" - that is my old hotmail account. This account has long ago been deleted, but it was linked to my Thunderbird account, which makes me think the spam is coming from there. I set Thunderbird up maybe a year and a half ago and never used it; at some point I deleted it & forgot about it. What can I do to delete this account and stop this from happening?

You can remove it from Thunderbird by going to:

Tools-Account Setting select the account from the list Account Actions-Remove Account

No menu bar with Tools? Press the alt key to make it appear.

If they were sent from your computer they would be in the sent folder. This is usually not how it happens. They just acquire your email address and use it for the "sent from" address and it is sent from someplace else. If you do not use the account go to Hotmail and delete the account.
